Others have gone into detail on the control issues. Consider waiting for a patch before purchasing. The procedural music aspect is wildly overrated.

Great game, lots of fun. Free control is much better, certain earlier levels if you place rooms just below the surface it will cause damage to enemies without reciprocal damage. Also you can place rooms on a diagonal such that if they explode you lose fewer rooms below it. This wouldnt be possible with a grid. Perhaps future puzzle-like games could have difficulty adjustments. True some levels are hard really quickly, but not impossible- just takes a focused day or two to figure out the strategical trick. I am halfway through the fourth world.

Excellent idea and fun gameplay! But its true what everyones been saying. The controls ARE bad :( but still five stars because its fun!!

there are some obvious drawbacks to the control system, but all in all, it doesnt harm the game. this is a great strategy/real-time puzzle game. unique fun and complete when you pay for it!!! have fun, and try different build strategies!! ps its beautiful too

I have beaten all the levels! But yes I agree with others, it needs to be more accurate with the touch control and where the square lands. Hopefully there will be more levels as well

The only thing i like is the art style. I think its too hard to put rooms where you want them to go. I also find it a little too difficult. I also dont understand why its the price of two apps. I hold it to a higher standard because of the price.

LOVE IT. Charming, beautiful, addictive, but also haunting (youll understand when the little green psychic alien dudes hit your hotel and your heart.) This new version has smoother unit placement and Gamecenter support (!). Ill see you on the top 25 boards. Ill be the one on top. KABLAMO!

The newest changes to the controls in the September 13th update make placing rooms significantly better! Im glad to see the developers actually taking the criticism well and doing what they can to improve the user experience. The one minor irk I have with the game still is that the difficulty can be a little hard even in the earliest stages.

Fantastic update. Much better controls. However, its still a tad to difficult. Still cant beat hotel 2, level 3. Please work on the balancing. Thanks again!

I still wish the game was a large grid where you could tap the room you want and then tap which square on the grid you wish to place it in. Would make the game ten times better considering how fast you have to act in levels like SPF 25 which is where I got stuck. Like others have said, the game difficulty ramps up early and even with the latest update to room placement, its still too hard to quickly place buildings accurately.

Bad hotel is an original twist on a classic standby. I love the art and the sound. I cant wait to see what these folks do next

Other than the update issue of crashing, the game USED to be amazing. The new update crashes though.

Beautiful graphics but everything else about he game is terrible. It crashes constantly and makes no sense. It also seems to have no clear path to victory. Saw this game recommended and am extremely disappointed.

I made this game and am really proud of it. It remained fun to play through the entire development process. I hope everyone else has a ton of fun playing it too. My favorite levels are 5-2 and 2-3. Good luck!

I dont know how to describe Bad Hotel, but its crazy fun. Those two things together are probably the highest compliment I know how to pay this kind of app.

This game tries to do a lot but I feel that it ends up just mediocre. The strategy elements lack complexity and the gameplay lacks variety

Unplayable as it crashes on menu screens on iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1. Please update/fix

Game seems like it would be fun but it wont run longer than 10 seconds before crashing. I have restarted my device (iPhone 5) and reinstalled the app - still crashes. Do NOT buy this until the crashing is fixed its a waste of time money and data
